Lessons for Ages 8-12

CMA offers lessons on many different instruments for students between the ages of 8 and 12. These lessons are designed to give students valuable instruction and attention as they begin to grow and develop in new musical directions. Students who begin branching into new instruments during this time period can get an early start on instruments that are traditionally taught later in school bands, orchestras and choir programs.

Students' growth at this stage frequently occurs very quickly as relationships with teachers and peers, as well as practice routines, begin to take hold. Students in these classes will be encouraged to focus on a wide range of styles and to begin developing personal repertoires that can be performed in formal or informal settings. At this stage the music-making process also becomes more social, and as a result these classes are often more enjoyable for both students and their families.
