Janna Webbon is a violinist from Texas, where she studied violin performance at Baylor University. She has performed in many settings including playing as concertmaster under the directorship of Gerard Schwartz at the Eastern Music Festival. Although she grew up with a primarily classical background, she has played in baroque, jazz, Latin American, folk, pop, and rock styles. She enjoys playing new music and improvising especially at the Racer Sessions, a weekly music series hosted by Table & Chairs.
Janna enjoys helping children and adults pursue their musical goals. Highlights include teaching private violin lessons at Live Oak Classical School, as well as travelling to Aguilares, El Salvador to teach group classes of students, some of whom got to hold a violin for the first time. Janna believes that building a solid technical foundation in violin is vital to developing healthy and natural habits. Violinists should also improvise from the beginning and throughout their development in order to build a connection with their instrument and learn how to make it their voice.
