Change it Up! Preparing for a Performance (Part 2)
In the followingTikTok, Michael explains one of the most common sense that a lot of us make when we're getting ready to perform.
Have you ever thought "I sounded great at home but I didn't sound great at my lesson" or "I sounded great at home but I didn't sound great at the recital"?
This is because you likely got used to practicing your piece the same exact way in the same comfortable environment every time. When you are used to playing on the same piano and in the same space, performing in a different space on a different piano with an audience might become overwhelming, which can lead to more mistakes. To help this, practice changing how you play the piece each time. For example, change the key, dynamics, articulation or tempo of the piece.
