Creative Music Adventures offers students the ability to study the clarinet and saxophone. Because of the physical demands of the woodwind instruments, we recommend starting while in 4th grade or later.
Beginning level students will work on a building a solid foundation for classical and jazz performance.
Students will learn about tone production, reading music, breathing, tonguing, posture and hand position. Instrument care and reed preparation will also be covered in the lessons.
Theory and ear-training
A practicing commitment of at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
You can rent an instrument at Kennelly Keys, Mills Music, or Metropolitan Music. If you are thinking about purchasing an instrument, I'm happy to help find you a quality instrument, but stay away from cheap instruments from the big-box stores! They are not satisfactory for school band or lessons; you are much better off with a quality used instrument.
Materials: box of Rico or Rico Royal #2 Reeds, reed guard, pull-through swab, beginning band book (Accent on Achievement or Standard of Excellence) and Rubank Elementary Method.
