Beginning Piano Lessons for Children Ages 5-11

Creative Music Adventures offers group piano lessons for children between the ages of 6 to 11 years old.  These lessons help build a lifelong appreciation for music.  Students gain confidence, learn to work well with peers, become more disciplined and develop important skills on the piano.

Group lessons allow us to cover more material in each lesson.  The classes are longer than the typical private lesson.  Therefore, we are able to spend more time on important musicianship elements such as ear training, sight-reading, composition and technique.  The lessons are a fast-paced 50 minutes.

The nerves and stress traditionally associated with piano lessons is nearly eliminated with group lessons.  Because children are always playing with their peers, they rarely develop stage fright.  Students benefit from watching their peers and work together to tackle difficult concepts.

Many adults who once studied piano lessons remember the stress of the experience.  Group lessons help reduce the pressure on each child.  Private lessons often find children on the same songs for weeks if their performance at the lesson is not up to par.

In the group lessons, each class will have a specific goal and theme.  This keeps the classes fun and exciting.  Even if a concept takes a few weeks to master, the children will be learning new concepts that will help reinforce the previous lessons.  This way a child doesn’t feel so self-conscious about not being able to instantly grasp concepts.  This will also keep children from getting bored.  If they find something easy then there will be something new to learn at each lesson.

Students are expected to practice at home between the lessons.  They will need an 88-key instrument with weighted keys at home .  We can help give advice on the best instrument for your musical and financial situation.

In addition to the weekly lessons, students are able to attend monthly workshops.  These workshops primarily focus on developing a student’s rhythmic skill set.  We believe these sessions are essential for students to become better musicians.  There are five workshops each semester.  Students are required to attend three.

Piano students typically struggle with the abstract concepts of rhythm.  These workshops help bring this essential element of musicianship into something very tangible and fun.
